This dreamily soft blanket from Martex feels just like velvet, but is remarkably lightweight and easy to maintain.  Warm and soft January 9, 2009
I absolutely love this blanket. The size is perfect, it is soft, warm, and looks as good as new after machine washing. The price was right. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a super nice blanket!
Accurate colors January 8, 2009
Ordered a cranberry queen size. It is beautiful and happily the color in the display picture was accurate- a very good reflection of the actual color of the blanket I received.
 What is vellux, anyway? January 7, 2009
I'll admit that I was ignorant regarding exactly what "vellux" is. I expected a fleece-like feel of softness. It is soft if you just touch the surface, but the fabric itself feels more stiff like a piece of foam. The edges of the blanket aren't finished at all, just like a piece of foam. If you gather it up, it feels stiff, even after washing. To me, this feels cheap and isn't comfortable.
On the good side, I didn't notice any smell and there was only a little lint in the lint trap after the initial wash and dry of this blanket. If you don't mind the feel of vellux, you'll probably be fine with this blanket.
 Vellux Blanket - not what I expected January 7, 2009
Very dissatisfied...when i received blanket the plastic packaging it was in was very dusty. It seems like it had been sitting in a warehouse for years. The smell of the blanket was even worst. I have several of these blankets at home and I have never purchased one that had these problems.The ones I own are also much softer. I will return this one and purchase it elsewhere.

This is a great blanket that is light in weight, but really holds the heat and is VERY soft. I would gladly buy another next time I needed a blanket! We actually take it to the couch to wrap up in watching TV and it is perfect for that as well.
