 Exactly what I thought they'd be December 12, 2008
I purchased these off Amazon and they were shipped through VirtualExchange. the shipping was very quick & the transaction went smoothly. I would buy from them again.
this is the 2nd pair of H.S. Trask shoes/boots I have bought over the years and one thing is consistent, they are the most comfortable footwear you can buy shy of moccasins.
the reason I am giving these 4 stars instead of 5 is that I thought these would be slightly more rugged than they are. this is not a complaint as I'll wear these as a dress shoe. I live in the mountains of Colorado and these easily pass as formal footwear.
the images of the tread are misleading. I have several pairs of boots with this tread and, while the pattern is the same on these, the material and depth of tread is not. these are made of a softer compound and the tread is not as deep. all-in-all these are an extremely light and comfortable boot intended for a business-casual lifestyle. you wouldn't go trudging through the snow or mud or hike up rough terrain in these boots but they're exactly what you're looking for if loafers just aren't your style.
if a slipper and a work boot had a kid, this is what you'd get.

I made a huge mistake buying these boots. I paid to get them, paid to send them back for a smaller size, paid to have a smaller size sent, and no boots or explanation. They are hard to pin down and I feel I have wasted time, money, and my good intentions to get nothing in return.
I weouldn't do business with them again.
