Sole not Durable December 9, 2008 I have owned three pairs of these shoes. Obviously, I like them, however, the soles have gotten a hole in them quiite quickly. I use them when walking my dogs which means walking on asphalt. If you just want these for running errands I suspect the sole will hold up. My most recent pair wore out in less than a season so I replaced them with a pair of Timberlands that had a more substantial sole.
Excellent shoe! November 15, 2008 I am SO happy I ordered this shoe. I wear a 12 so getting something really good for a very reasonable price is truly a treat. These shoes are comfortable, easy on and off, don't crowd the toes, and aren't bad looking or clunky. I think the sizing is perfect. I know they will serve me well for many winters to come. I'm tempted to order a second pair so I'm never without them.
big big ice muckers June 5, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered these for winter. We have a lot of snow and ice in our region. They were much wide and long. I was surprised as I wear clarks shoes almost every day.
Met my expectations February 25, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
When I chose this shoe, I was looking for a comfortable, waterproof shoe (that didn't look too clunky) to wear on vacation in Ireland. It is very comfortable, just conforms to my foot like other Clark shoes. I usually wear 8 1/2 but since that was not available I ordered a size 9. Since we are still experiencing icy walking in Pennsylvania, I have worn them several times. They seem to work well with medium or thin socks. I like they way they look on my feet too, not at all clunky. I am pleased with my purchase.
Very comfortable and useful shoe February 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I second the two excellent reviews that precede this one. I was looking for a comfortable, waterproof shoe that wouldn't be too hot or heavy to wear indoors. This shoe is extremely comfortable, keeps my feet dry, and doesn't make them sweat too much if I wear them all day. I also was able to insert an orthotic easily by removing the insole that came in the shoe.
What I would add to the previous reviews is more information about sizing. The shoes come in whole sizes only; I found they run a little large, i.e. I normally wear a 7 1/2 and found that the 7 was a better fit than the 8. The only minor disadvantage is the zip top--if you want to wear them with thin stockings and thick socks on different days, you cannot adjust the fit of the shoe to compensate, as you could with a lace shoe. My sizing information here is based on medium-weight socks.
The shoes are great for rain or light snow. For deep snow, Clark's makes a high-top version which has the same excellent qualities.
